Today, I am sharing with you about Suwon Hwaseong Festival!
The Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival was held in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do for a total of two days from October 8th to 9th. It was held every October, but it was the first event since 2019 due to COVID-19 over the past few years. The German team (Freiburg) and the Japanese team (Fukui) filled the stage as the sister cities’ performers of this event.
I was in charge of the German team that performed on the 8th and 9th, so I will introduce the German team.
The Aktionstheater PAN.OPTIKUM performance team in Germany (Freiburg) performed a small performance at Haenggung Plaza on the 8th of the event day and a street performance at the preliminary parade of King Jeongjo's tomb on the 9th.
The stage of the Aktionstheater Panopticon performance team performed a very profound performance that explained the effects of virtual space on our lives against the backdrop of the metaverse.
Many people came to visit the festival since the 8th was the first day of the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival.
The performance team members were nervous throughout the rehearsal because it was their first performance and also their first event in a long time, but they were able to do the performance more successfully thanks to the audience, regardless of age and gender.
The team members also seemed very satisfied because even though many people weren't used to the particular dance songs, they were touched by the enthusiastic support from the audience.
Next, is the pre-parade street performance for King Jeongjo's Neunghaeng on the 9th.
Unlike the sunny weather on the 8th, the weather on the 9th was rainy and cloudy.
Because they had to perform on the streets, they had to put up with the slippery roads and the rain that blocked the view, but they managed to finish the stage well with the witty quickness and adaptation of the team members.
Perhaps the German team's performance stood out more because of the rain.
Unlike the 8th, the stage was given to a wider stage and a larger audience, making the team members more excited, and the German team showed a great performance on the 9th as well.
Also, they were sad because it was the last day, and I heard that they wanted to visit Korea again next year.
So the two days of Suwon Hwathe Seong Cultural Festival has ended.
It was the first event held since COVID-19, so there were many difficulties during the preparation, but I think we had a more meaningful time thanks to the invited performers who made the event fruitful.
Also, it was meaningful to promote harmony with people of various nationalities in one place, and I would like to give a big round of applause to the Suwon Center for International Cooperation, which continues to work hard to raise awareness of global citizenship to Suwon citizens.
Not only there is the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival but also there are more meaningful events waiting for everyone in the future, so please look forward to it.

이번에는 수원화성문화제의 독일 공연팀 무대내용을 소개드리려고 합니다.
지난 10월 7일~9일 총 3일 동안 경기도 수원에서 수원화성문화제가 개최되었었습니다. 매년 10월에 개최하는 행사였으나 지난 몇 년 간의 코로나로 인해 19년도 이후 첫 행사를 선보였습니다.
이번 행사의 자매도시 공연단으로 독일팀(프라이부르크)과 일본팀(후쿠이)이 무대를 채워주셨습니다.
저는 지난 8,9일에 공연을 하였던 독일팀을 담당하였기에 독일팀에 대해 소개하고록 하겠습니다.
독일(프라이부르크)의 액션시어터 파놉티쿰(Aktionstheater PAN.OPTIKUM) 공연팀은 해당 행사일의 8일에 진행된 행궁광장 소공연과 9일에 정조대왕능행차 사전행렬에서의 거리공연을 하였습니다.
액션시어터 판옾티콘 공연팀의 무대는 메타버스를 배경으로 가상 공간이 우리 생활에 미치는 영향들을 풀어낸 매우 심오한 내용의 공연을 펼쳤습니다.
8일은 수원화성문화제의 첫 날이기에 많은 관객들이 찾아주셨습니다.
공연단 팀원들께서는 첫 공연이기도 하고 오랜만에 참여하는 행사였기에 리허설 내내 긴장을 했기에 걱정을 많이 했지만 나이와 성별을 불문하고 많은 분들이 찾아와주신 덕분에 공연을 더 성공적으로 마칠 수 있었습니다.
팀원들도 공연이 만족스럽게 마친 것 같고 무엇보다 익숙지 않은 노래의 공연을 선사했는데도 불구하고 관객분들의 열띤 응원에 감동을 받았다는 소감을 들을 수 있었습니다.
다음으로 9일에 있던 정조대왕능행차 사전행렬 거리공연입니다.
8일의 화창한 날씨와 다르게 9일의 날씨는 비오는 흐린 날씨였습니다.
거리공연을 해야했기에 미끄러운 길과 시야를 가리는 빗길을 견뎌야 했지만 팀원들의 재치있는 순발력과 임기응변으로 무대를 잘 끝마쳤습니다.
어쩌면 비로 인해 독일팀의 무대가 더 돋보이지 않았을까 싶습니다.
8일과 다르게 더 넓은 무대와 더 많은 관객들에게 선사하는 무대라 팀원들을 한껏 더 들뜨게 했었고 9일도 마찬가지로 굉장한 무대를 보여준 독일팀이였습니다.
또한 마지막 날이라 괜히 시원섭섭하고 내년에도 또 한국을 찾아오고 싶다는 소감을 들었습니다.
이렇게해서 이틀간의 수원화성문화제가 끝났습니다.
코로나 이후 처음로 열린 행사라 준비하는데 많은 어려움들이 있었지만 행사를 알차게 만들어준 초청공연단들 덕분에 더 뜻 깊은 시간을 보냈던 것 같습니다.
또한 한 자리에 여러 국적의 사람들과의 화합을 도모할 수 있어서 뜻 깊었고 앞으로도 수원시민들의 세계시민의식을 높이는데에 많은 공을 들이는 수원시국제교류센터 큰 박수를 보내고 싶습니다.
수원화성문화제 뿐만 아니라 더 뜻 깊은 행사들이 기다리고 있으니 앞으로 많이 기대해주시길 바랍니다,
