SWCIC is hosting various programs to foster global awareness of citizens.

In particular, to nurture global citizens, SWCIC is trying to provide various activities for Suwon citizens, such as ‘Global Humanities’, ‘Global Citizenship Education’, and ‘Food Trip’.

‘Visiting Global Citizenship Education’ is an educational activity for local and foreign instructors targeting teenager in the area. ‘Global Citizenship Education’ plays a role in encouraging teenager in the district to take an interest in various problems of their global neighbors. Furthermore, it supports teenager to grow into talents in line with the global era. Through the stories of the global village told by professionally trained local and foreign instructors, teenager can broaden their understanding and broaden their horizons.

This special lecture was held three times in Maewon Elementary School.

In the 1st and 2nd special lectures, a special lecture by a local lecturer was held on the topics of global diversity, human rights issues, environment and international development.

And in the 3rd special lecture, had time to understand Vietnamese culture through a special lecture by a foreign lecturer.

Various information such as Vietnam's geography, language, climate, education, traditional clothes and games were incorporated into the special lecture. In order to arouse the interest of teenager and call attention to them, personally tried gymnastics at a Vietnamese school and performed a Vietnamese traditional game together.

Teenagers who participated in the special lecture showed positive responses such as being able to experience the culture beyond knowing it, it was useful knowledge, and saying that they would do the greetings they learned today in Vietnam.

On the other hand, they hoped to participate more actively, saying that they would like to try on traditional clothes in person next time, and also showed interest in special lectures in other countries such as the United States, Japan, and China.

The lecturer who conducted the special lecture said, “Even though we have different looks and languages, we wanted to convey that we are all neighbors, and I hope that it will become a school where all foreigners and Koreans can study, play and study together.”

수원시 국제교류센터는 시민들의 글로벌 의식을 함양하기 위해 다양한 사업을 진행 중입니다. 특히 세계시민을 양성하기 위해 ‘글로벌 인문학’, ‘세계시민교육’, ‘푸드트립’ 등 수원시민을 대상으로 다채로운 활동을 제공하고자 노력하고 있습니다.

지난 ‘글로벌 인문학’에 이어 소개할 사업은 ‘찾아가는 세계시민교육’입니다. ‘찾아가는 세계시민교육’은 내외국인 강사들이 관내 청소년을 대상으로 하는 교육 활동입니다. ‘세계시민교육’은 관내 청소년들이 지구촌 이웃의 다양한 문제에 관심을 가질 수 있도록 하는 역할을 하고 있습니다. 더 나아가 청소년들이 글로벌 시대에 발맞춘 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 지원하고 있습니다. 전문적으로 교육을 받은 내외국인 강사들이 전해주는 지구촌 이야기를 통해 청소년들은 이해의 폭을 넓힐 수 있으며 더욱 광활한 시야를 갖출 수 있습니다.

이번 특강은 매원초등학교에서 총 3회에 걸쳐 진행되었습니다. 1, 2회차 특강에서는 내국인 강사의 특강을 통해 세계의 다양성, 인권 문제, 환경과 국제개발 등을 주제로 진행되었으며, 3회차 특강에서는 외국인 강사의 특강을 통해 베트남 문화를 이해하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 베트남의 지리, 언어, 기후, 교육, 전통의상과 놀이 등의 다양한 정보를 특강에 녹여냈습니다. 청소년들의 관심을 유발하고 집중을 환기하기 위해 베트남 학교에서 진행하는 체조를 직접 해보고, 함께 베트남 전통놀이를 진행하기도 하였습니다.

특강에 참여한 청소년들은 문화를 아는 걸 넘어 체험할 수 있어서 좋았다, 유용한 지식이라 좋다, 오늘 배운 인사를 꼭 베트남에서 하겠다는 등의 긍정적인 반응을 보였습니다. 한편 다음에는 직접 전통의상을 입어보고 싶다며 더욱 적극적인 참여를 희망하기도 하였으며 미국, 일본, 중국 등 다른 나라의 특강에도 관심을 내비치기도 하였습니다.

특강을 진행한 강사님은 “생김도 언어도 다르지만 우리는 다 같은 이웃이라는 것을 전달하고자 했으며, 외국인 내국인 모두 다 같이 공부하고 놀고 함께하는 학교가 되길 희망한다.”라고 말했습니다.

수원시 청소년들이 문화 다양성을 내재화하고 글로벌 시대의 인재가 되는 그 날까지 ‘찾아가는 세계시민교육’에 많은 관심 부탁드립니다!
