Review of the 2023 Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival 

Performers from the international sisterhood relationship with Suwon City, Jinan in China, Hai Zuong in Vietnam, Bandung in Indonesia, and Freiburg in Germany participated in the 60th Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival, which was held from Oct. 7 to Oct. 9. Forty-nine members from five teams of Art Performing Troupe participated in the performance held at the special stage of Haenggung Square and staged a variety of performances.

The Jinan Suwon Art Exchange Group, consisting of seven outstanding young members from the Theater, the Acrobatic Troupe, and the Women's Theater, performed art performances with strong ethnic and regional characteristics based on a comprehensive art form that combines folk music, acrobatics, and dance. To the performance of the Chinese classical folk song "Morihwa", the traditional Chinese opera "Susu Dance" and high-level acrobatic performances were performed.

The Sunda Art Team 'Lies Unpad', one of Indonesia's Pajaran University student groups, plays a pivotal role in Indonesia's local culture and arts. Founded to maintain the spirit of the Sunda group, an indigenous group from West Java, it performed the Sunda traditional dance, one of Indonesia's cultural heritages, showing off its colorful costumes and dynamic movements.

Under the theme of "Vietnam's Scent and Beauty", the Heizuong Cultural Arts Center in Vietnam showed ethnic dances containing Vietnamese traditional peoples, the northern plains and the southwestern highland ethnic minority.

The German Gymnastics Federation's official Showteam Matrix, which has been selected four times by the Freiburg Team of the Year and has won gold medals at the Show Performing World Championships, featured a special combination of high-level acrobatics, artistic gymnastics, and dance with Beethoven's Creation of Prometheus.

Lastly, The "Sullae X Harang" team, consisting of young traditional artists from Suwon City, showed Korean traditional culture by performing Pungmulnori, Chaesangnori, Waburna Nori, twelve-legged sangmo Nori, and traditional dances.

It was a meaningful time for artists from various countries to communicate, harmonize, and promote and exchange their traditional cultures. We look forward to the continued active cultural exchange between Suwon City and Suwon sisters and friendly cities.

2023 수원화성문화제 국제자매예술단 초청공연 홍보 기사

수원시의 국제자매·우호 도시인 중국 지난시, 베트남 하이즈엉성, 인도네시아 반둥시, 독일 프라이부르크시의 공연단이 10월 7일부터 10월 9일까지 개최된 제60회 수원화성문화제에 참여했다. 국제자매·우호 도시와 수원시 예술공연단 5개 팀 49명은 행궁광장 특설무대에서 열린 국제 자매·우호 도시 예술단 초청 공연에 참여하여 다채로운 무대를 꾸몄다.

지난시 가무극원, 지난시 곡예단, 지난시 여극원 출신의 우수 청년 단원 7명으로 구성되어 있는 ‘지난시 수원예술교류단’은 민악, 곡예, 무용이 결합된 종합예술형식을 토대로 민족과 지역특색이 짙은 예술공연을 펼쳤다. 중국 고전민요 ‘모리화’ 연주에 맞춰 중국 전통 경극의 ‘수수무용’과 고난도의 곡예 공연을 선보였다.

인도네시아 파자자란 대학교 학생 단체 중 하나인 순다 예술팀 'Lises Unpad'는 인도네시아 지역 문화 예술의 중추 역할을 맡고 있다. 서자바 출신의 원주민 그룹인 ‘순다족’의 정신을 유지하기 위해 설립되었으며, 인도네시아의 문화유산 중 하나인 순다 전통춤을 공연하며 화려한 의상과 역동적인 동작을 뽐냈다.

베트남 하이즈엉성 예술공연단 ‘하이즈엉 문화예술센터’는 <베트남의 향기와 아름다움>을 주제로 베트남 전통민족인 북부 평야 민족과 남서부 고지대 소수민족의 얼을 담은 민족 무용을 보여주었다.

‘프라이부르크 올해의 팀‘에 4번이나 선정되고, 쇼 공연 세계 선수권 대회에서의 금메달을 수상하는 등 빛나는 수상 경력을 가지고 있는 독일 체조 연맹의 공식 ’쇼팀 매트릭스‘는 베토벤의 ’프로메테우스의 창조물‘에 맞추어 높은 수준의 곡예, 예술체조, 춤의 특별한 조합을 선보였다.

마지막으로, 전통 예술가치를 실현하고자 다양한 예술활동을 진행하는 구성된 수원시의 청년팀 술래X하랑은 풍물놀이와 더불어 채상놀이, 버나놀이, 열두발 상모놀이, 전통춤이 결합된 공연을 펼치며 한국 전통문화를 널리 알렸다.

여러 국가의 예술가들이 소통하고 화합하며 각자의 전통 문화를 널리 알리고, 교류하는 뜻깊은 시간이었다. 앞으로도 수원시와 수원 자매·우호 도시들의 활발한 문화 교류가 이어지길 기대한다.
