2019 Big-bird Ground Market

   On April 20th and 21st, 'Big-bird Ground Market' was held in the Central Square of Suwon World-cup Stadium. It was both founded and organized by Suwon World Cup Stadium Foundation and Suwon Center for International Cooperation (SWCIC). Flea market started at 2pm, and the mini concert with a jazzchoir 'Jazzchor Freiburg' and a vocal team '불러드림' began at 4pm.

 

 

   There were a variety of products such as food commodities, handmade accessories and clothing at the Flea Market which took place before the concert. Central Square was crowded with people coming to take a look around the market in the afternoon. The mini concert started afterward with the vocal teams, '불러드림', Musical Gala-Show. They performed musical numbers from world-wide pieces.

 

 

   The jazzchoir's performance followed after. Jazzchor Freiburg is a choir that sings a Capella without any instruments. In an interview before the concert with the conductor Bertrand Groger, "The biggest difference between a jazzchoir and a jazzband is that - although we have cooperated with a band sometimes - there are no instruments in the former. Also harmony and teamwork among the members should be more cared about in the case of a jazzchoir." he mentioned.

 

   When asked about their musical orientation, he said "Jazz is like 'World Music'." and added, "We want to tell the audience that music is the most wonderful thing in the world." They showed a wide range of songs - from traditional European voice to Polish music and songs with Arabic melodies and traditional African rhythm combiined - and even recreated Arirang in their own style.

 

   The concert ended with a loud applause.

 

 

 

 

 

2019 빅버드 그라운드 마켓

4월 20일과 21일, 수원시월드컵경기장 중앙광장에서 ‘빅버드 그라운드 마켓 in Suwon’이 개최되었다. 월드컵경기장관리재단과 수원시국제교류센터가 공동으로 주관한 행사로, 2시부터는 플리마켓이, 4시부터는 재즈합창단 ‘재즈콰이어 프라이부르크(Jazzchor Freiburg)’와 보컬팀 ‘불려드림’의 작은 음악회가 진행됐다.

공연 전 열렸던 플리마켓에는 각종 식료품부터 핸드메이드 액세서리, 의류 등 다양한 물품들이 즐비했다. 오후부터 중앙광장은 플리마켓을 구경하기 위해 온 사람들로 북적거렸다. 이 후 보컬팀 ‘불러드림’의 뮤지컬 갈라쇼로 작은 음악회가 시작됐다. 이들은 전 세계적으로 유명한 뮤지컬의 넘버들을 선보였다.

전세계 최초 재즈 합창단인 ‘재즈콰이어 프라이부르크’의 공연이 뒤를 이었다.이들은 악기 없이 아카펠라 형식으로 노래하는 합창단이다. 공연 전 진행된 지휘자 버트란트 그뢰거와의 인터뷰에서, 그는 ‘재즈 합창단과 재즈밴드의 가장 근본적인 차이점은 전자는 악기가 없다는 것이다. 또한 밴드보다는 멤버간의 조화나 팀워크에 더욱 신경써야 한다’라고 말했다. 그들이 지향하는 음악과 관련해서는 ‘재즈는 월드뮤직이라고 생각한다’며 ‘궁극적으로 관객에게 음악이야말로 세상에서 가장 아름다운 것이라는 메시지를 전달하고 싶다’라고 말했다. 실제로 이들은 전통적인 유럽의 성악에서부터 폴란드 음악, 아랍의 멜로디와 아프리카의 토속 리듬이 섞인 노래를 선보였으며, 심지어 아리랑도 그들만의 해석으로 재탄생시켰다.

관객들의 박수 속에서 공연은 성황리에 마무리되었다.
