“Sizuoka City Association for Multicultural Exchange” and “Suwon Center for International Cooperation” have made their seventh interact this year. This time, Suwon city invited Japanese Students from August 29th to September 5th 2019 (8 days) and had cultural interact. Students had an opportunity to learn about Korean culture through the cultural exchange program with university students in Suwon, Homestay program, Suwon city tour, and UCC making. And I was able to interview some Japanese students through a student exchange program.

First of all, self-introduction please.

I’m Koike Mai from Tokoha University.

Izumitai Wataru, in 3^rd grade from Sizuoka Univ.

Mochitsuki yuki, in 1^st grade from Nihon Univ.

Why did you participate in this program?

The university introduced me this program, and I have been interested in Korean history and culture since long ago.

I applied to interact with Korean students and discover differences in the way of thinking and values with Japanese students.

I applied because I wanted to broaden my perspective and experience many things.

How much did you know about Korea and Suwon?

About Korea, I know some K-pop or Korean food, but I just knew about Suwon city only that there is a baseball or soccer team.

I’ve never been to Korea before. So, all I know is what I saw on the Internet.

What did you expect most in this program?

In this program, I expected the most to interact with students in Korea. I thought it was a chance to listen to “Real Korean language” and talk with them. I was looking forward for the food. I wanted to taste the real one.

I was really looking forward to experiencing life in Korea the most, like the Homestay program.

Interaction with Koreans.

What was the most impressive program?

Homestay program. I had a chance to go to church and I became interested in Korea’s religion.

When I saw the homestay family calling their older brother who lives in the United States every day, I thought they had a strong family-hood.

I was very impressed by the Student-Interacting program.

If you have a chance to go to other country, like this time. Which country you want to visit?

China. We are in the same Asia continent, but I think there is another charming point there.

I’d like to go to America, and test my own English skill. I also want to find differences between Japan and America.

Korea, Canada, and Europe.

시즈오카시 국제교류협회와 수원시국제교류센터의 교류는 올해로 7회째에 접어들었고, 2019년 8월 29일 ~ 2019년 9월 5일 (8일간) 일본 학생들을 한국으로 초청해 문화교류를 하게 되었다. 학생들은 수원시 대학생들과의 교류, 홈스테이, 전통문화체험, UCC만들기 등을 통해 한국의 문화에 대해 배울 수 있는 기회를 갖게 되었고, 그 중 대학생 교류 프로그램을 통해 만나게 된 일본인 학생들과 인터뷰를 할 수 있었다.

먼저 자기소개 부탁합니다.

이번 활동에 참여하게 된 이유가 무었인가요?

대학교에서 이 프로그램을 소개해 주셨습니다. 그리고 예전부터 한국의 역사와 문화에 관심이 있었습니다.

한국 학생들과 교류하고, 일본 학생들과의 사고방식이나 가치관의 차이를 발견하기 위해 신청했습니다.

시야를 넓히고 싶었고, 여러가지 체험을 해보고 싶다고 생각했기 때문에 지원했습니다.

한국과 수원에 대해서 어느정도 알고 있었나요?

한국은 케이팝이나, 음식에 대해 알고 있었습니다. 수원시는 야구나 축구팀이 있는 것만 알고 있었습니다.

한번도 가보지 못해서 인터넷에서 찾아본 정보정도만 알고 있었습니다.

이번 활동 중에서 가장 기대했던 것은?

한국의 대학생과 교류할 수 있다는 점입니다. 진짜 한국어를 듣고 대화할 수 있는 기회라고 생각했습니다. 그리고 음식이 기대가 되었습니다. 본고장의 맛을 느껴보고 싶었습니다.

홈스테이 같은 실제로 한국의 생활을 체험하는 것을 가장 기대하고 있었습니다.

한국인들과의 교류입니다.

이번 활동 중 가장 인상에 남았던 것은 무었인가요?

홈스테이입니다. 홈스테이에서 기독교회에 가게 되었는데, 한국의 종교에 대해 관심이 생겼습니다.

홈스테이 가족이 미국에 살고 있는 형에게 매일 전화하는 모습을 보고, 끈끈한 가족애를 갖고있다고 생각하였습니다.

한국 대학생들 과의 교류가 인상에 남았습니다.

만약 이번과 같은 기회가 주어진다면, 방문하고 싶은 나라는 어디인가요?

중국입니다. 같은 아시아지만, 한국과 일본과는 또다른 매력이 있다고 생각하기 때문입니다.

미국에 가서, 자신의 영어실력을 테스트해보고 일본과의 다른 점을 발견하고 싶습니다.
